I have to say that I found the book to be a cracking read. A nuclear blast kicks the story into gear, triggering mass immigration into the UK. As the PM prepares to adopt tough immigration policies, a car bomb kills most of the cabinet, while another destroys the Luton Central Mosque, sparking global Islamic outrage. The pace is terrific, the characters well rounded, the manipulation of media and public opinion chilling and there are several themes running across the plot which will resonate with the discerning reader.

About the Author
DC Alden is a UK-based thriller writer, filmmaker and screenwriter whose work encompasses a hugely entertaining mix of mystery, conspiracy, action/adventure, political and military/war genres. Born in London, DC's career has encompassed a variety of roles, from soldier to technical consultant, including work on many popular films and TV shows.�
His film work began when he answered an advert for former soldiers, after which he was chosen to work on Steven Spielberg's Band of Brothers, alongside Tom Hanks, Damien Lewis and Donnie Wahlberg. The experience reignited his lifelong passion for film and screenwriting, and a few months later he was enrolled at a London film school where he went on to make a several short films and a documentary about life on set�(Band of Brothers--An Extra's Life), using previously unseen footage.
His first novel, Invasion, grew from a film script he conceived while researching a short for the Cannes Film Festival. A speculative military thriller, set in a world of failing western economies threatened by a united Islamic super-state, Invasion sold out its entire print run in three months and caught the attention of a major TV producer. These themes continue in The Horse at the Gates, a political thriller set in Britain's near future. The Arab Spring, the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood and continued public debate over mass immigration in Europe all tie in perfectly with this fast paced, provocative thriller. Dealing with highly topical and seldom explored themes and issues, DC is an emerging new talent whose writing is innovative, thought-provoking and always commands attention. He is currently working on his third novel, Chosen.

Really rubbish end......the rest was brilliant

This was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it until the end. It felt like the author had no idea how to finish it and so didn't.....or just killed people off.....hugely disappointing as it was a terrifyingly realistic read that should have gone on for at least 100 extra pages....

This was an excellent terrorism thriller, and very prophetic about the refugee situation currently happening in Europe. It was very well written, and contains plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way. Here's to hoping D.C. Alden keeps writing new material!

Really enjoyed the read. It's a pleasure to ride down a well written plot. This book is proof read, unlike so many from unlimited, you don't have to guess what the gibberish means.
