"Everything is a blur." Chez Pazienza has just awakened from his first deep sleep in months to find himself in a strange hotel room. As he tries to piece together the details of how he got there -- which come back to him only as confusing fragments -- he steps over to the window, pulls open the curtain and is shocked to his senses. He realizes that he has a front row seat to the smoking wreckage of Lower Manhattan. It's September 13th, 2001. What led him to be at the epicenter of the darkest event in American history turns out to be a personal catastrophe that cost him everything that mattered most to him. Just a few months previously, Chez had been a successful television producer living in Los Angeles with his beautiful new wife. But he harbored a secret that was destroying him from the inside out: a monstrous heroin habit. As his life spiraled out of control, with his marriage crumbling, he made the decision to escape L.A. and get clean. Now, fresh out of rehab, with nothing to lose and walking an emotional tightrope, Chez Pazienza has made another decision -- possibly the craziest one of his life. He's come to New York City in the wake of a terrorist attack that shattered the nation. He's going to go to work for NBC News. He's going to find his humanity again under inhuman conditions -- and rebuild his life in the shadow of death. Told in three intersecting storylines that barrel along with dizzying ferocity, "Dead Star Twilight" is a relentlessly exhilarating memoir that Arianna Huffington calls "fierce, funny, disturbing, but ultimately uplifting... the book 'A Million Little Pieces' dreamed of being."

Dead Star Twilight
By Patrick AKA QuadCityPat
I've only been following Mr. Pazienza's blog for the last few months and knew virtually nothing about him before that. As a writer he's witty and unfailingly honest. He can be biting in his humor and ruthless to people he skewers. All of these traits are on full display in Dead Star Twilight. His brilliant autobiography not only serves as cautionary tale of the power of addiction, but also a redemptive one without being preachy or self centered. Not only does the book give a bare bones look at rehab, but there's plenty to savor in chapters that detail the behind the scenes goings on of a newsroom during the worst crisis in the nation's history. Mr. Pazienza doesn't pull punches or play nice especially when reflecting on himself and his behavior. I highly recommend this book.

AMAZING READ!
By K.Rubin
I could not put this down. Be warned-once you pick this up, it is impossible to stop reading. A very intimate look into the life of someone struggling with addiction and so many emotions that go with it. I found myself rooting for Chez! Such a talented writer. I found myself laughing and crying....and relating. This book will NOT let you down.

A long time coming...
By Adrienne Saia
I started reading Chez Pazienza's blog after I, too, was fired from my job for maintaining a blog. I became infatuated with Pazienza's sharp wit and his openness about his everyday life. I read his daily pieces, but held off on reading Dead Star Twilight (which was available in a downloadable PDF) for a few years. And when I finally clicked "buy," I read the book in two evenings. Not because it lacks substance, but because it's a riveting read. We live in a voyeuristic world, and Pazienza's memoir offers unfettered access into the most personal aspects of his life. There's no preaching or self-helpy, "look what I overcame" pandering in this book; it's simply a life laid out for the reader (and, ultimately, Pazienza) to absorb and measure. Pazienza doesn't paint himself as a special snowflake, but as merely a man with a story to tell. And it's a hell of a tale, expressed with humor, honesty and a biting sarcasm which readers of his web site have come to adore. I'm psyched that Pazienza got this published as a paperback, and I'll be getting one soon (I'm no Luddite, but I love real-deal, tangible books). If you want to experience a true story that reads like fiction, buy Dead Star Twilight.
